Curriculum: 10th Grade
Our 10th graders spend their evenings focusing on Jewish theology, talking with other teens about their ideas about God, and defining for themselves what it means to be an American Reform Jew living as part of a dynamic minority. Students are encouraged to speak their minds and freely challenge ideas with our rabbis in active learning sessions, and will also address current events and other pertinent issues as they arise during the year.
The 10th graders culminate their year of study in two ways. First, they take a class trip to New York City in the spring (seen here, with Rabbi Allison and Rabbi Ruth). Then, starting in early spring, the class writes and prepares their Covenant Renewal Service, which takes place on Erev Shavuot.
Schedule for 10th graders:
6:15 - 6:45 PM: Services in Sanctuary, led by the rabbis
6:45 - 8:15 PM: Class with the rabbis
In preparation for the class trip to New York City, our 10th grade students enjoy a variety of lively opportunities to gain fundraising experience throughout the year.
